Countries: Aruba, Venezuela.

Habitat: Thorny scrub, deciduous forests, crops and gardens. Between 0 & 830 masl.

Presence: Very abundant.

Venom: Harmless.

Toxicity: Low.

Local effects: Pain, intense inflammation, edema, redness of the skin, blisters, minor bleeding.

Systemic effects: Have not been reported neither in humans nor in pets.

Opistoglyph dentition: Characterized by the presence 1 or 2 pair of enlarged grooved teeth, located in the upper jaw, always behind the eyes. These snakes segregate its venom from the base of the modified teeth, so in most cases they need to bite for some time to deliver effectively.

Habits: Terrestrial, nocturnal and crepuscular.

Prey: amphibians, lizards and a great variety of invertebrates.

Temper: Shy and docile, snakebites by this sp. are extremely rare, they hardly bite even when handled. As a defense method these snakes can excrete a foetid smell substance.
