Viejita , Mapanare ( Bothrops medusa)

Small, beautiful and rare. It is a species of Bothrops endemic to the Cordillera de la Costa, located at the north of Venezuela. It feeds mainly on amphibians that it hunts on the banks of streams that flow from up the mountains. Its venom is not considered very strong and there is no record of bites.
